How we handle your information
Effective April 15, 2026
The short version
owillow exists to help homeowners and property managers gather quotes from contractors without the usual runaround. To do that we collect some information from you, send messages on your behalf, and store the replies that come back. We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and we don't share your personal details with contractors unless you ask us to.
If anything below doesn't sit right with you, email us at privacy@owillow.com and we'll sort it out.
Who we are
owillow is operated by the owillow team. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to owillow. "You" means the person using our service — usually a homeowner or property manager.
What we collect
When you use owillow, we collect:
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password (hashed — we never store your actual password).
- Project details: the property address you're gathering quotes for, the trade you need, a description of the work, any photos you upload, and preferences you set (site-visit needs, home presence, access instructions).
- Communications: the emails and text messages sent on your behalf, plus the replies contractors send back.
- Usage data: standard web analytics (pages viewed, device type, approximate location from IP) to help us fix bugs and understand what's working.
- Payment information: if you upgrade to a paid plan, our payment processor handles your card details — we never see or store the card number itself.
How we use it
- To run your project. We use your name, email, address, and project details to send outreach to contractors on your behalf and track their responses.
- To communicate with you. We send you SMS updates (from Lisa, your project assistant) about new quotes, questions from contractors, and actions that need your attention. We send you email notifications for important account events.
- To improve the service. We analyze aggregated, anonymized data about projects and outcomes (response rates, typical pricing ranges, common scopes) to make the product better. We do not publish or share individual-level contractor pricing.
- For security and fraud prevention. We monitor for unusual activity and prevent abuse.
- To comply with the law. Where legally required, we may retain or disclose information in response to valid legal process.
SMS messaging — your consent
When you provide your phone number during signup or project creation, you agree to receive SMS messages from owillow (including from our automated project assistant, Lisa) about your projects. These messages may include:
- New quote and ballpark pricing notifications
- Questions from contractors that need your input
- Scheduling confirmations and site-visit requests
- Project status summaries and daily or twice-daily recaps
Message frequency varies by project activity. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
To opt out: reply STOP to any SMS from owillow and we'll stop sending you messages immediately. Reply HELP for help.
Opting out of SMS does not cancel your owillow account or stop email notifications — you'll still be able to use the service via the web dashboard and email.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with:
- Contractors you are requesting quotes from, but only the information necessary for them to quote the job: your first name, the property address, and the project description you wrote. We do not share your phone number or personal email address with contractors — replies route through a private relay address.
- Service providers we use to operate owillow. This includes our hosting and database provider (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), SMS delivery (Twilio), AI processing for reply classification and assistant messages (Anthropic), address lookup (Google Places), and payment processing (Stripe, if you upgrade). These providers are contractually limited to using your data only to provide services to us.
- Law enforcement or legal process, when required by valid legal request.
If we ever sell or transfer the business, your information may transfer too — you'll get notice in advance if the new owner's practices meaningfully differ from this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information as long as your account is active. Project data (scope, contractor conversations, quotes) stays available in your dashboard so you can refer back to it later.
If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to retain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements. Anonymized, aggregated data (like "median sealcoating price in Westmont") may be retained indefinitely for benchmarking and product improvement.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that's wrong or out of date
- Delete your account and associated personal information
- Object to certain uses of your information
- Export your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@owillow.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to opt out of its sale (we don't sell it), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
EU/UK residents (GDPR): You have equivalent rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal basis for processing is usually the performance of a contract (running your project) and legitimate interests (improving the service, preventing fraud).
How we protect it
We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted-at-rest database storage, hashed passwords, least-privilege access controls on our team, and monitoring for unusual activity. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to make ours as secure as reasonably possible.
Children
owillow is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email us at privacy@owillow.com and we'll delete it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the service is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings — some features won't work without them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll let you know by email or a notice in the product before they take effect. Minor clarifications and non-substantive updates may be made without notice — we'll always update the effective date at the top.
